Storage Guide

How to Store Your Sourdough

Your sourdough tastes best within 48 hours. Here is how to keep it fresh โ€” or freeze it for later.

How to Freeze Your Sourdough

1

Cool Completely

Once your loaf is completely cool, slice it all the way through. Never freeze a warm loaf.

2

Bag & Press

Place slices in a sealed freezer bag and press out as much air as possible before sealing.

3

Freeze

Pop the bag in the freezer. Slices will be fully frozen within a few hours and keep for up to 3 months.

4

Toast from Frozen

Take one or two slices out and reheat directly in your toaster โ€” no thawing needed.

5

Reuse & Repeat

You can reuse the plastic freezer bag many times. Sourdough freezes better than almost any other bread.

Room Temperature Storage Tips

๐Ÿซ“

Bread Box

Keep at room temperature in a bread bag or bread box for up to 48 hours. The crust helps preserve it.

โŒ

Avoid the Fridge

Refrigerating sourdough speeds up staling. Room temp or freezer โ€” never the fridge.

๐Ÿ”ฅ

Revive with Heat

Place day-old sourdough in a 180ยฐC oven for 8โ€“10 minutes to revive the crust and crumb.
